Dave Ali Fils-Aimé is the Founder and Executive Director of Basketball to Uplift the Youth [Baskètbòl pou Ankadre Lajenès, in Haitian Creole], a nonprofit organization based in Haiti. Born in Port-au-Prince, Dave lived in the Martissant neighborhood of the capital until he moved to the United States with his family at the age of 12. In May 2012, Dave returned to Haiti to work for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). While in Haiti, Dave launched Basketball to Uplift the Youth in July 2013 with the objective of using basketball as a tool to guide and mentor Haitian youth, and to provide them with talent-building opportunities.
In addition, Dave is currently serving as Political & Economic Affairs Consultant at the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, D.C. He is also the Founder and President of DaliReel Productions, a multimedia company that shares positive stories from Haiti, educates the world about the country, and highlights Haiti’s rich culture and history through its multimedia projects.
Dave is a graduate of Harvard University, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology. He is also a graduate of Yale University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and he serves as the Director of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee for the Caribbean region.
